Tokyo Marathon is an annual marathon event held in Tokyo. Recently, Tokyo Marathon joined the World Marathon Majors and became the part of one of the biggest marathon events in the world.

How to Apply
Application period is between August 1 and August 31. Applicants will be selected by the lottery if applications exceeded the limit. Procedure is conducted on the Official Website. Announcement and notification of lottery results will be sent via e-mail in late September. After receiving the result, please make a payment for the entry fee. If a guidebook is sent, please go to the Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo Marathon EXPO) to complete entry registration during the three days before event. Please check for cautions from the Official Website.

Eligibility and more information
Application period: July ~ November
The application period ends early when the number of the applicants reaches 3,000. Participate fee is the same as ordinary runners. Please apply from the Official Website.
- People who have donated 100,000 yen or more to the charity program and want to participate in the Tokyo Marathon.
- People who will be 19 years old or older on the race day.
- Men and women who can finish the marathon in no longer than 6 hours and 40 minutes.

Tokyo Marathon 2015 Course
The running route is near the famous tourist spot, such as Imperial Palace, Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Station, Ginza, Akasaka Kaminarimon Gate and Tokyo Sky Tree.
・Tokyo Marathon EXPO
There are various events held in Tokyo Big Sight. In the Food Corner, you can enjoy eating local Japanese dishes as well as famous dishes in Tokyo.
・Tokyo Marathon International Friendship Run
This running event is held in the Tokyo Waterfront City Symbol Promenade Park, the day before Tokyo Marathon, to entertain and interact with runners from overseas. A cultural exchange event is also held. You can experience Japanese traditional performing arts and Japanese hospitality. In addition, “Friendship Party with light meal” (extra charge) will be held in the venue.
・Tokyo Big Marathon Festival
On the day of Tokyo Marathon, along the route of Tokyo Marathon, music performance, dancing, folk entertainment events are held.
Things needed for the marathon are shirt, pants, and shoes. However, the one that needs to pay extra attention to is shoes (please ask the salesclerk of sports shop when you buy shoes). Please choose the shoes that fit your foot and please wear sweat perspiration fast-dry shirt. We recommend you wear five layers of socks to prevent sore feet.
